Barry Jay Epstein, Ph.D., CPA

Dr. Barry Jay Epstein is a testifying expert in accounting, auditing and financial reporting matters. His expertise centers on forensic accounting and accounting malpractice as well as financial reporting and securities fraud. He collaboratively works with accounting malpractice attorneys, professional liability attorneys, white collar criminal defense attorneys and business litigation attorneys unraveling complicated financial information. His exhaustive analysis and powerful testimony are difficult to challenge.

As a pre-eminent authority on the subject of financial reporting, Barry has co-authored
Wiley GAAP 2010: Interpretation and Application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and authored Wiley IFRS 2009: Interpretation and Application of International Financial Reporting Standards. Fred Lieber has over 20 years of financial litigation experience with an expertise in the valuation of privately owned businesses and professional practices. In addition, Fred provides forensic accounting and expert witness testimony for commercial damages, franchise termination disputes as well as business and partnership dissolution. His ability to explain complex financial information to a judge or jury and have it understood is a talent that is recognized by attorneys. Fred’s knowledge and experience in franchise and contractual breach is documented. His role as an expert witness for the plaintiff in To-Am Equipment Co., Inc. vs. Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division (affirmed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit) aided in a favorable financial award and a precedent-setting legal outcome.

Fred also works with Family Law attorneys in traditional and collaborative divorce matters. His financial litigation experience coupled with his cooperative, calm, demeanor has led to his success in an often trying and confrontational environment.
